Default Fed up with the British climate

It's been constant rain ALL summer so far in the UK, and our winters feel long and cold

I would like to move somewhere that has lovely sunny days pretty much all year round. Australia/ New Zealand/America a bit far to move from the UK for me. Prefer an English speaking country.

I adore the UK when the sun is shining. Don't even mind a bit of rain, but this summer is relentless and just depressing. You can't plan anything outdoors in the UK

Our kids are late teens now, so would be thinking of moving once they have left home maybe

Any ideas folks?

It depends if you need to work or not. Most of europe is in crisis and has high unemployment.

I think that may also be one of the OP's points about the UK, too!

It is grim here in the UK without doubt!!! I'd give anything to be back in Spain right now. Unfortunately theres more to life than the weather and right now - for me (and many others)) its more financially secure in the UK. Thats why so many people aspire to live in the UK. Lovely weather doesnt pay the bills

But some/many of us don't qualify for free hand-outs from the state. As you say, the weather isn't the only thing - which is why I and so many others would rather be here in Spain!
