When living abroad, do you meed a lot of new people or do you tend to keep to yourself? If you meet new people, do you often have to leave them when you move again?

I've made a whole new family of friends in England. Seems like I make more friends every time I go out. People are mostly very friendly in this area though. I'm not planning on leaving. I left one country, family and friends. That's enough for me for one lifetime.

When you move to a new country , of course you meet new people , when you leave , of course they stay behind , the friends you make are determined mostly by the friendliness you as a person exude . Colin

I think you really have to make an effort, right at the time when you are usually just concentrating on getting settled and getting basic things organized. At the beginning you may be a novelty, and get a lot of invitations, but those will dry up soon. It's important to accept them to give yourself a bigger pool of possible friends.

It's easiest for children, for people going to school, and for anyone who is working. It's hardest for a non-working spouse, especially if that person doesn't speak the language.
