Default Wars

Do you take wars into account at all when you move and travel? Are you worried that there may be a world war one day? Major countries like the United States and the UK seem all-to-willing to get involved in wars. What do you think?

Hopefully wars will become less frequent as people communicate with each other on forums like this across the world and see that we are all just human.
Sadly, most aggression seems to stem from the "my deity is better than yours" world view.
Its a pity that the leaders of warring countries aren't forced to lead the attack, like kings of old. Now thats something I'd love to see on the evening news.

I agree. I think that wars will soon become a thing of the past. They were a phenomenon of globalization, where previously isolated cultures and communities began to come in contact with each other. These contacts are marked by fear and greed.

The 3rd world war has been in process for many years , declared not by any government in particular , but by religious zealots of an inhuman kind , or had you not noticed ?

I'm 62. The war in Europe ended a few weeks before I was born, and we were still at war with Japan. Then we fought in Korea, then Vietnam, and the Gulf, and the Gulf again. In between these fairly major events we fought in Granada and Panama and ...

The number of wars is not decreasing but increasing. Now that every little ethnic group thinks they must have its own country, they will continue to increase. And when the world starts coming up short of potable water, there will be even more.

The number of wars are not increasing , there is only one volotile war in todays world , the dominance of the world by Muslim factions the world over , born , bred , educated , where-ever , however , the hate factor is instilled at the parental level . hiden behind skirts and diapers by illiterate believers , they insidously infiltrate the populaces of the entire world . You cannot talk or introduce dialogue to these people , they are indoctrinated from birth to kill some-one , anybody thier 'Scholars ' indicate as the current 'Enemy 'of Allah . The only true answer would be to anhialate every Muslim in the world on sight , but western people are too humane to do this , it could be our eventual downfall ?????

Odd ball, if your stranded companion told you tomorrow he was Muslim, would you abandon him? If you were in a classroom with Muslim 8 year olds and a gun, with no consequences to you, would you kill them?
To say "these people " is to class peaceful mainstream families with rabid fundamentalists.
Like saying all Christians think the same as the Ku Klux Klan.
(by the way I'm a peaceful atheist)
Fundamentalists of any creed are dangerous if they preach violence.
Hitler, Pol Pot, Mao tse tung, Al Qaida.
To hate the beliefs of a culture is wrong and futile. To despise and prevent harmful actions of a few is necessary.
By the way, I have the greatest respect for soldiers, men & women, who defend their people and country. My contempt is for the leaders who motivate them with lies and propaganda (Viet Nam, Weapons of mass destruction in Iraq)

oddball, religious fundamentalists are far from the only causes of war in the world, and Muslims certainly aren't. You are in Cambodia, which had one of the worst dictators the world has ever seen, was invaded by Viet Nam for the express purpose of getting rid of him, and absolutely none of it was about religion. It was about power and greed and a sick mind that got off on cruelty. And while the individuals who perpetrate crimes like the World Trade Center bombings may do so for religious purposes, I really think the leaders behind all these activities are using religion to enhance their own power and feelings of dominance.

Buddism is not a religion , it is a way of life inherited from India .The Vietnamese did not invade Cambodia as such , they infiltrated the country to introduce communism and executed anyone and everyone with intelectual capabilities , there was no army as such to defend the country , just a bunch of civilians in uniform commanded by incompetent under armed officers loyal to the monarchy who ran back to thier villages sooner than fight .The villagers did what they had to do to survive , undergoing acts of sexuality and deprivation , semi starvation , beatings , loss of family , you name it , they suffered through it with closed mouths and minds . The lessons learned from this are still prevelant in Cambodia today , you dare not complain or criticise , the old ways are the only ways , the people in general only listen to other Khymer people , the village is the main institution for life and family , the government ? Can you blame them after all the atrocities they endured ?
Despite all of this , they are a happy , obliging race of people , uneducated by and large , but happy and friendly .
