Default About increase in fee for renewing Titre de Sejour

Bonjour and Happy New Year to All,

I'm in France for my PhD and currently I have Scientific Titre de Sejour which expires in April 2012. I have heard from someone that the fees for renewing titre de sejour have been increased from 1st Jan 2012 and the new fee is 500 euro.

This is too much increase, I searched on the OFII website (OFII - Office Français de l’Immigration et de l’Intégration) but they still have fee list of 2011.

Can someone confirm this news?

Thank you very much

Regards,
Imran Khan

Can't find anything official on this - but the fact that the local préfectures seem to have pulled any mention of the pricing on cartes de séjour seem to indicate that some change is in the wind.

But every table I've found with the old rates seems to indicate that the price to renew a carte de séjour is considerably less than the price of the first carte de séjour. In the préfecture where I live (Essonne) they even seem to have set up an online system for appointments at the sous-prefecture for those on scientific visas.

I'm not surprised these days that the initial titre de séjour might be raised to 500€, but I suspect renewal will continue to be cheaper by quite a bit. (Then again, I don't think like a French bureaucrat - but we can all hope...)
Cheers,
Bev
