Hi and welcome to the forum.

Without speaking French it will be tough finding a job other than among the English speaking expat community. It might be worth your while to contact the various British expat groups in the area. The British Consulate usually has a listing of expat groups it is associated with.
Cheers,
Bev

Given that a standard lease in France runs for three years, I'd be very wary of setting up accommodation sight unseen. Give yourself a bit of time to check out the possibilities in person and at different times of the day. I was helping a friend look for a flat in Paris, and we saw a really nice place she was considering. A friend of hers who lived down the same street pointed out that the flat she was considering was directly opposite a biker bar, where things didn't get going until around midnight in the summer time.
Cheers,
Bev
