Default Acquiring insurance in the French Riviera

Hi everyone!

Our family has been here a month as of today and we've been living in hotels while looking for a place to rent. Finally found a wonderful little villa just outside of La Turbie. I am in the process of purchasing a used scooter from another expat and we've heard one insurance company can cover both. Any recommendqtions on which company we should go with?

Cheers, BJ

We like AXA quite a bit (we're in the Dordogne).

They've been willing to provide us with estimates of costs without always have every single detail (which is good as we don't always have them).

La Turbie is a lovely area.

Ray,
Thanks for your reply. Fortunately, our landlord is a wonderful gentleman and he set us up with an appointment with his insurance company, AVIVA. They quoted us rates lower than the other places we had contacted, so we went with them for the renter's insurance. The scooter insurance is another thing entirely...have to provide our driving records, take the obligatory 7 hour course, etc. for the rates to drop to a reasonable level.

Glad it turned out! The course is probably worth it - get you used to the differences between France and the US. Best of luck.
