I am currently in the US, but when I left France last week (Thursday), the price for 95 grade petrol (France has its own system for rating octane - this is basically the cheapest grade) was just under 1.50€ per litre (1.47 to 1.49). The "high-test" stuff (98 octane in France) was just over 1.50 (like 1.52 or so).

Diesel (gazole) was around 1.37 or so a litre.

And I don't know the price for LPG since none of the stations in our area (Ile de France south of Paris) seem to carry it.

Prices on the motorway rest stops are generally 5 cents or more a litre higher. Lowest prices are generally off the motorway at the gas pumps you find at the big hypermarket stores (Carrefour, SuperU, Leclerq, Intermarché, etc.).
Cheers,
Bev

I use the following site for fuel prices in France:

Comparer les prix du carburant

Just click on the départment you want to check out, and then the name of town on a drop-down menu. Most prices are sent in by local correspondents within the last few days. LPG (called GPL there) is within a range 0.75 to 0.85 euro/litre. It isn't normally sold at hypermarkets, but most larger roadside stations sell it.
