Default Moving to Toulouse France

Dear Friends,
I am from India (TamilNadu), I am planning to move to Toulouse during sept mid and stay for about two years. I will be working in University of Toulouse as research fellow. I would like to know what will be the living cost for a family. (One daughter 8 years)
I am also interested to know about schooling and accommodation expences.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Cost of living is one of those things that kind of depends upon where you come from and what sort of standards you expect. If you are going to be living for two years in Toulouse, you certainly have the option of sending your daughter to the local schools - and those are free (well, almost - there's always stuff like school supplies to buy, but it's not that much).

Being affiliated with the university, you may also have access to some help in finding accommodation geared to your needs. I know the university here has an organization called Sciences Accueil which is active in helping researchers and other staff to integrate into the local community. You might ask if there is a similar group in Toulouse.
Cheers,
Bev

Hi!

How long is a piece of string.

If you can read French, you can get a lot of information here:

Vivre à Toulouse :: Forum Midi-Pyrénées :: Routard.com

For children, State schools are free.

try Toulouse Web - Loisirs et sorties - Guide web toulousain - Rencontres Toulouse Spectacles - Annuaire - Annonces - Actualités

I lived there for a few years between 2001 and 2003., and possibly going back., i left because of Toulouse turned out to be a small town perfectly housing criminals from Marsielle and other places in France they can not run too in Europe.

I can list a bunch of murders, even a rape during broad day light in the center called CAPITOL which took place at a hair salon, the police did not even want statements and did everything to not report it.

i hear it changed a bit more now that there is pressure on the arabic community, not that the arabs had anything to do with the crimes at all but its them who constantly turn over criminals so they do not take any blame.

I absolutely love it there though., the small streets, you have a FNAC and real French Cinemas in the center., people are kind in General., i think you will stay there once your get used to it.

As for the problems i doubt its any different then any other major cities., it is odd that a small town could have such serious crimes but the fact that there is a prison on Saint Michell is why., other then that you see young people most of the year since it is a university town., thought i share that with you.

peace
