Smile Wanted Property to Rent in France

Hi,
Can anyone let me know where I can find long term rental properties in France. Every time I have managed to find one on the internet it seems someone has beaten me to it and it has gone.
I would be grateful for any help.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

It would help to know a bit about where you're looking for property rentals - both in terms of what sites you have already consulted and where in France you are trying to get yourself located.

The best known site for property is probably PAP IMMOBILIER DE PARTICULIER A PARTICULIER. Choix entre des milliers d'annonces immobilières d'appartements et de maisons de particuliers. Location, achat et vente en immobilier. | PAP.fr which lots of folks consult in order to avoid the (rather high) agency fees. But, because of its popularity, properties listed in PAP tend to move pretty quickly. - at least the rentals.

It also makes a huge difference what part of the country you're looking to live in. Paris is always a "challenge" when it comes to house hunting. Other parts of France have their own peculiarities.

The other issue will be that we are moving into the summer vacation season, and the market may appear to go "dead" for the next two months. People just don't bother listing rentals over the summer - but come the Rentrée in September that should change.
Cheers,
Bev

Hi!

Just a question: What do you call long term?

For rental contracts ( non-furnished ) in France the standard contract is 3 years.

Here the generalities concerning contracts.

Location - Service-public.fr

Depending on what you are looking for, best is to be on the spot, especially if this is something in town.

Yours,

giantpanda

If you are looking seriously at Brittany, which is a great place to live btw, there are often ads for rentals in the Central Brittany Journal (CBJ) which is a monthly and very useful publication listing everything to do with living in Brittany for the expat brit community. They have a website at Central Brittany Journal

Brittany is relatively cheap still, has better weather than you might think, and the Bretons are very very welcoming and friendly, plus it has a sizeable but not overwhelming british population. I have a house there and try to spend as much time there as I can.
