Default Tattoos Acceptable

I am thinking of getting more tattoos (I have 1 on my upper back, mostly hidden). Are they as socially acceptable in France as they are now in the US?

Thanks!

Regrettably so. There are far too many women (and men) vandalising themselves in the name of a passing fad.

Ha - thanks for the info.
Anyone else have an opinion on if the French stigmatize people with tattoos?

In my opinion, the French don't tend to stigmatize people at all based on look. They only stigmatize people for not being French enough (which can sometimes be determined from your look, like if you are wearing a burqa :-P)

I don't think you will be treated any differently whether or not you have tattoos.

Kim,

Yes, you are starting to see more of them here. I should point out that not all guys find a tattoo on a girl alluring, in fact, it can be a real turn-off. Why spoil a thing of beauty?

Cheers

Thanks all - I'm already married and he likes them, so no worries there

I just don't want to get another tattoo if the French hate them and wouldn't want to welcome me into their community/lives. But, if that isn't going to turn most of them off, then off to the tattoo parlor it is for me!

Not sure where you're going but, despite seeing quite a few tattoo parlours scattered throughout the city here (Antibes), I see very few people with visible tattoos. It doesn't seem as popular as in NoAm, at least not down south here.

Sorry to hijack this, OP, but If there were a way to take away points or 'unthank' you, Veronica, I would have clicked it.
