Hi all, i've fortunately found this forum... :=)

In 2009 i am moving with my French girlfriend from italy to Toulon.
I own a graphic design studio which i am going to close for moving out there.
I'd like to know, if there's work request for the job of web designer and web engineer, if there are free courses for learning the french language.

My girlfriend told me which i'll get RMI until i find a work, but my goal is to work as web designer or web engineer, so my dubt is if Anpe finds me a work in other business, can i deny it cause it doesn't fit my requests?

Is life too much expensive in cotes d'azur?

Are there other warns i should listen to before i move?

Can i mantain open my "partita iva" in italy (is the code of professionals) and have a regoular contract in france?

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

I take it you are Italian (which is handy, as you won't have to worry about all that visa stuff!). But I don't think you are eligible for RMI if you have been self employed before coming to France. Under some circumstances, if you are receiving unemployment in Italy before you move, you can continue to receive benefits for the first three months or so in France. The French don't offer much (or any) benefits for business owners. You may want to check the Assedic website https://www.assedic.fr/assedic/assedic.portal for more information.

They have just announced new rules coming into effect soon that will reduce your ability to turn down jobs proposed by ANPE - don't have a source for that, but there was something on television here about it last week. IIRC, they are saying that after you turn down two jobs offered, your benefits will be suspended. But I don't know when that goes into effect or if it's still just a proposal.

For French classes, you'll have to check with the local mairie (town hall) where you wind up living. Since you won't have to sign one of those contracts of integration, you won't be eligible for the State classes aimed at immigrants, but some towns run French classes. There are also some volunteer groups that offer French classes for foreigners at low cost.

You might also want to take a look at the europa.eu website, which is the portal site for the EU. There is quite a bit of information about working in various countries - and the information is available in nearly all the languages of the EU.

Hi!

Now you can only get the RMI after having worked quite a time or if you are now employed in Italy and would qualify for Unemployement money in Italy.

If you do not benefit of an E106 ( which is only valid 2 years ) you will have a problem with the French Health insurance, because then you will have to prove the existence of a private Health Insurance contract, equivalent to the CMU de base which costs at least Euro 3500 a year for one person.

The stay in France ( depends if you are a EU native or not ) has ben considerably toughened last year.

PS. If you had a PACS or were married, then that would change everything if your friend qualified for the French Health Insurance, because then you could tag on without extra costs.
