Default Which area to live in Grenoble?

I am going to be relocated in Grenoble late June this year and is going to be work in Echirolles. I would like to ask your advice regarding which area in Grenoble to live is the best choice for a 2+1 family.

I have a just 3 year old girl and would like to find a place which is not far from my work, and is also not far from a school for her.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I've been to Grenoble a couple times and it's a fairly compact town (with a rather good public transit system, in fact). If you will be working at the university there, there may be some assistance available to help you get settled, including housing and child-care/schooling.

Another good source for information about the town is the local AVF (Accueil des Villes Françaises) group. AVF -- Présentation
There is contact information on the website (which is all in French but don't hesitate to contact them in English, they'll cope). Just be sure to contact them this month - at the end of June things tend to shut down in France for the summer.

If you run into any problems contacting AVF, let me know and I'll help you get in touch with them.
Cheers,
Bev

I live about halfway between Chambery and Grenoble, about 45 minutes away from Grenoble. Its a commune of 420-ish people, very peaceful.

The stretch between Voiron and Grenoble is very pleasant and rural.

You might want to avoid susing a car to commute, Grenoble is a total nightmare in a car in commuting hours.
