Thanks Bev for reassuring me that I am not the only one who has felt this has been a long wet and cold few months. When our neighbours told us that firstly there Magnolia tree had just flowered then all the flowers had died in the frost some morning last week, and that usually they have there heating system shut down at this time of year but had to resfill their oil tank and of how usually they are wearing their shorts come end of april( when this year they are still in their fleeces!). It really got me panicking. To be honest France has soooo many great points but one of the biggest reasons we came here was the fine weather, as we were sick of dark depressing days in Ireland! So without the weather I am afraid it would be such a struggle! But I will give it some time though and see how the summer goes!!

The last couple of summers have been kind of cool - though after the big heat wave of 4 or 5 years ago, no one was going to complain. We'll see what this summer brings.

France's weather is normally divided into two regions - north of the Loire and south of the Loire. North of the Loire, the winters are dark, cold, gloomy and wet. It never really freezes, but it's not very nice and if the spring is late in coming, you really notice it.

South of the Loire, the weather is usually quite a bit better. Certainly more sunshine - though in 1999, when we had the big wind storms at the end of the year, it was COLD even in the south of France.

But we're due for a warm summer one of these days... maybe this summer. Who knows?
Cheers,
Bev
