As a UK citizen, you have the right to live and work anywhere you like in the EU. So, no need for a visa (or even a carte de séjour these days - in fact most prefectures won't give you one, even if you ask).
Cheers,
Bev

Hi!

More important now would be the following:

- you have to porve that you have sufficient income, so as not to be dependant of the French State.

- then there is a Health Insurance problem for those coming over on an E106 ( eg. if you have worked in GB.) If after the 2 year period, you do not work ( not occasionnaly ) or you are not on a E121 ( State pension) then you will have to prove that you have a private Health insurance equivalent to the French Health Insurance - that can cost from Euro 3500 per year person, and then it would also be best to have a French top-up, which according to your age can cost from Euro 400 to Euro 800 per person per year, for the standard coverage.

Yours,

giantpanda

What sort of property? (residential. investment, rental, land, etc.)

There are plenty of online sources you can start with - but ultimately you'll have to come over and see the property for yourself. Century 21 (the big estate agent) lists properties in France by the agency that is showing them. To take a look at properties without the agency fee, try Particuliers à particuliers (known in France as PAP). Both sites are all in French, and the PAP site also contains considerable information about the buying and selling process in France (also in French).
Cheers,
Bev
