Default Work/Live Process in Paris

Hey, sorry for any redundancy, but I'm curious about the specifics of moving to Paris as an EU national. I gather that as an Irish citizen I can simply move to France and look for work. However, what procedures do I need to follow? My understanding is that within three months I would need to register as a resident, and though I've seen it said here that it's absolutely not necessary to obtain a Carte de Séjour, some sites indicate it'd be beneficial for certain bureaucratic processes. Also, information on registration as "actif" would be appreciated. I'm particularly curious about the lines
"EU citizens have the same rights to work and employment protection as a French citizen. In order to exercise these rights, an actif EU citizen needs to be able to show proof of employment".

What exactly do I need to register for/obtain to live and work? If I didn't obtain a "EC all occupations" residence permit could I happily continue working and living there?

(Also, certain sites seem to indicate I'd need to apply for a permit after three months... They're outdated?)

Thanks.
- Andy

For an EU national, there basically is no process for moving to France. And these days in most prefectures they won' t give you a carte de sejour, even if you want one. (I suspect it' s because it' s more work for them!)

As far as finding a job is concerned, you probably will need to speak French at least passably well, and in France it always helps to have a qualification of some sort, especially one well known and accepted within France.
Cheers,
Bev

Thanks Bevdeforges. I should be OK re: finding work. I just want to make sure I don't simplistically move and find out 6 months later that I didn't register somewhere or apply for some document. Seems registering as a resident in a given area's the only thing, then.

I'm also curious about tenancy contracts. I've seen it said that it's relatively easy to get out of the standard three year contract, though always in relation to losing a job or some other circumstance. Simply opting out is un/common?

Thanks again.
