Default UK qualifications valid?

Just a quick thought that has occurred to me, are the following qualifications recognised in France and will I be able to find a job with them?

MSc (Hons)
BSc (Hons)
CEFR
A-Levels
GCSE's

Cheers for any help.

Depends a bit on what sort of job you are going for, and in what field. Most larger employers (i.e. International companies) will probably recognize your academic qualifications, but it's the usual practice to "translate" these into their French equivalents (especially if you're submitting your CV in French).

Now, if you're applying for admission to a French university, you will have to have your academic credentials reviewed by the university in light of what programme you're interested in - and they will decide at what level you will be allowed to enter based on what they decide the equivalency is.
Cheers,
Bev

Fair one, so if I looked for jobs with UK employers based in France I'd be fine, but if I worked for a French company they would not necessarily recognise by qualifications.

Basically, yes - though I'd include most "international" employers along with the UK employers, particularly those companies which use (or claim to use) English as the "official company language."

In the French companies, recognition of British academic credentials may depend on the experience of the hiring manager.

It's comparable to the situation in the UK if a French person submitted a CV saying that they had "bac + 5" - some folks would know what that was, others wouldn't. Translating it at least shows that you're taking the needs of your intended audience into consideration.
Cheers,
Bev

Ah ha so essentially I want to target my C.V. descriptions depending on whether the employer is French or non-French. Cheers Bev.

Hi!!

It will depend on 2 things:

- what type of jobs you are heading for, and if the people are aware of GB education.

- if it is something offical ( for example teaching ), then depending on the job, get foreign diploma recognised is not simple, all the more that there are shortage of jobs allocated ( NB. that does not mean that there are not jobs needed, but no official budget for them ).

All can be very dependant in your French language fluency.

Further it is generally not advisable to relocate until you have a CDI ( contrat à durée indéterminée) after the trial period.

Yours,

giantpanda

PS. For the French, who do not know what ' Hons ' means , it stands with Honors - avec 'mention très bien ".
