Hi, and welcome!

For an anglophone, the best source to start looking for a Paris rental is the FUSAC site FUSAC - Petites annonces pour anglophones de Paris

FUSAC is a free want-ad magazine that is available at most expat hangouts in and around Paris. I'm also told that it can be found in and around NYC, though I don't have any details on that.

But do try to find a French speaking friend to help you. Leases and most other legalities in France have to be in French by law, and translations are expensive.

Several of the US and British expats groups in town offer books that explain some of the peculiarities of French law (like leases and renting conditions) in English. In Paris, both WH Smith's and Brentano's often have copies of these available for sale, but for some you have to go directly to the organization (thanks to VAT rules).
Cheers,
Bev

Thanks! I am going to work in Paris come this summer but i don't have any friends there yet!

How's the current rental market now? Can anyone recommend any reasonable tax consultant/advisor too?

Thanks!

Where are you coming from? (Makes a difference on the tax advisor.)

Paris has always been kind of expensive for rents - and depending on where you're from, you may find the apartments kind of small. But take a look at the ads and see for yourself.

The other alternative is to go through a relocation agency, who can assign you someone to take you apartment hunting when you get there. (But the service is not free.)
Cheers,
Bev

If you're from the US, you have to file US returns, no matter where you live - so folks try to find someone who can handle both US and French returns. Coming from Singapore, I don't suppose there is a requirement to file back "home" so you really only need someone to help with your French taxes once you get here.

For a non-French speaker that could be tricky, but the first place to ask is your French bank. (Assuming you can find a bank international enough to have counselors that speak your language.)
Cheers,
Bev
