Default looking for a pretty village near Toulouse to live

Hi, we are family, with two children who are 9 & 7, and wanting to come and spend a year in France. We have located Toulouse as the area we need to be near as it has a good airport where my husband can fly into at the weekends. He will commute to the UK each Monday morning and I will stay with our 2 children. We want to be within about 40 minutes of Toulouse Blagnac Airport but I just don't know which villages to start looking. Can anyone recommend some areas to look at? Presumably becuase the airport is to the North West of the City then we would be best to look to the North of Toulouse? I would love to be in a village with a "good" primary school. If anyone can help, I would love to hear from you. Thank you. Sarah

Good morning Karen and co from one refugee from Edinburgh - mwe have been here for almost two years and as you can probably guess we are happy. 17C here today - as opposed to 5C chez vous.

30 views and no replies so here goes - if I reply your post will move back into the main section so you might get a bigger response.

Probably the majority of the people who move here are retired so not too preoccupied with schools.

Schooling seems to be the most important part of your move - but I am not in a position to help select a village with a "good" school. To make their life easier your children will probably go back one year, to help with language problems. The village school is the one they will go to, unless you live near a large town which might have some private schools - though we do hear some horror stories about poor teaching in these establishments too - something Watsons, Heriots etc parents would not put up with for longer than 1 day.

To help you choose a location you can follow the motorway north from Toulouse on Google Earth and have a look at some places that take your fancy - then have a look at the website for that place for more information.

Good luck.
