From what I have read, it seems there may have been a little bit of a "con" happening. So why not work your own sort of con in reverse with other actors/players? Make sure they are on your side to avoid the reverse-con. Maybe start looking at other nicer properties with her (or him should females find themselves in this position someday), and then work it so that "alternate" papers are to be signed for the new property, but it would mean you have to sell the other two to pay for them which she understands and then you sell the two and move on. You may end up being persona non-grata/indésirable in France, but if you are after selling what is yours then this could be your option? There could be some serious legal trouble for doing such a thing too, so the choice is yours.

Please nobody flame me for suggesting such things, it's an option and one that I wouldn't do unless the situation was drastic enough to wedge me into a corner with no option left. BTW I'm in Dubai not France.

Do you have any updates on your situation Vodka66?

I know an English speaking notaire in Siran in the Languedoc area of Southern France. She did the legal work on my house purchase and is very good. I can send you her details if you like. I don't know where you are based.

Do you know I might stand to be corrected , but as far as I know My late ex husband married a woman in france and had similar situation with her names on the deeds.

When he died it transpired that there is a law in France that Distributes whatever is in the estate especially, first to first wife and children , then to the second wife and children and the third wife (or mistress or partner ).
This law gets seriously enforced.

His second wife ended up with a small percentage of financial compensation. No rights to any properties even though her name was on there.
I signed it over to my children but have the right to live there till I die .
It cannot be sold unless I sell it or upon my death.

Don't know if this could help you, but I believe in some way it, especially if you have been married before and with children?
Have a friend from Holland that have Law offices in Paris and UK . English and French speaking .
If you are interested I could give you his info maybe he could assist you if you haven't found someone ?

Hi!

Sorry in the details, this is not quite exact.

There are definite rules which can not be transgressed.

It would be worth while that all house purchasers in France ( whether " maison" principale " or "maison secondaire ") at least consider the implications of French law before buying.

You do have the possibility of organising a succession ( which does not mean ,you can do what you like ) and have this taken into consideration the way the purchase is made.

Want details?

PM me, with your private email ( 17 pages ). This is free of charge.

Yours,

pomhorn

I just have one question? What all did you benefit out of this deal ?
A whole lot as far as I can see in 4 years time even excluding intimacy. That was a bonus!

A 100% mortgage, assets and profits on the properties, plus friendship, love, caring and definitely great Business Acumen from her, else you would never have had any of this .
If it was a man would you have considered this as a business deal and gave him his due share ?
Why then are you not dealing with this friendship/relationship as it should be , like a business ?
You had the funds , she obviously had the rest .

For once start thinking rational without your emotions and /or ego involved and give her the Respect that she deserves.

For 4 years she must have been worth it. Then just give her her due and call it a day like a gentleman instead of throwing a tantrum.

You made the choice then accept and respect yourself too for the great choices you made then in this regard and act responsible.

Be seriously happy you are not for instance in SA, because you would have had to cough up 50% of everything you own, earned and accumulated for/during the 4 years !

gkloken, I can understand your point but this isn't the place for your lecture.

Just like any married couple that decides to get a divorce they end up selling the house and other items or one is compensated if the other wants the house or car or whatever the item. I think one difference here, and I could be wrong because all of the facts aren't spelled out for us, is that she isn't even looking to compensate him for the property and doesn't want to sell those places with her name being on the deed.

I find it laughable too because all of the information isn't presented yet you've rendered a verdict of guilty and he be damned and ashamed for what he's done. What if she has been sleeping around with others and in the same bed they shared? Then what? If I was Vodka66 I wouldn't respond to you because he doesn't owe you an explanation or I might tell you to take a jump from a bridge. I'm sure he's stoked for getting your lecture. Why kick the guy when he's down when it is something that has no bearing on you whatsoever?

I'm curious from your perspective, how much should she be compensated for four years of "service"*?

* Service being friendship/relationship as defined by gkloken.
