Default what form to use to declare revenu from holiday rentals

we live overseas but have a house in France which we rent sometimes for the holidays. We want to declare the revenue we generate from the rental but cannot work out what form to fill or how to do it. Any idea?

Hi!

If the yearly income ( gross ) is under Euro 15,000 ( so called micro-foncier )you declare on form 2042 , page 3, box BE.

Form can be download here ( the form you need, you have to enter 2008, will only be available end of April, but possibily you should lookk at the former former 2007, which is pretty weel the same ).

NB. You declare gross, there is an allowance of 10% automatically taken into consideration.

Yours,

PS. If it is more then it gets much more complicated. Then ask.

Hi, and welcome to the forum. I saw your post last night, but couldn't find anything quickly online to help you out.

If you go to the French tax website http://www.impots.gouv.fr/portal/dgi...d=home&sfid=00
then click on Particuliers and do a "recherche" on the term "non-residents" you'll get a list of various forms and publications. The first one is something called a 2041-E which explains (in French) the requirements for a non-resident to file a declaration in France.

France files taxes late - they aren't due until the end of May for residents, and not until the end of June for EU residents, so it looks like the forms aren't available yet - at least not online. From what I can tell, the 2041-E is an information file for non-resident filers and it should have the specifics you need but you'll need to wade through it in French.

France generally treats rental income reasonably well. What you should find is that you declare your gross revenue, and then you're accorded a flat percentage deduction to cover expenses. You pay a flat rate tax on what's left.
Cheers,
Bev

Default french form for declaring revenue

Hi, I rent out my house occasionally in France and fill in any declaration of rental on my Impot tax form which is the income tax equivalent form usually sent automatically by the local commune in which you live.
