CRB check for Brit living in France...

Hello,

New on forum ! Desperately trying to find where exactly to get a criminal record check as the embassy here directed me to CRB in UK and they only do it for people living in England and Wales.

About to become a 'fonctionnaire' / employed by the State here in France and if I don't get this piece of paper I'll lose the job.

All the different places I've been contacting over the last few days have been saying'no, it's not here'...

Has anyone here in France (who is British) managed to get a CRB check or know exactly who to ask ? It seems to me like a 'mission impossible' ! Ha ha !

All you need to know about how to obtain a certificate or an extract of one's criminal record from Casier judiciaire national (French National Criminal Records Office) is contained in UK's CRB website under overseas:

It may depend on how long you've been living in France. If they'll take a French cassier judiciaire, it's pretty easy to do. The instructions are on the website Joppa cited - all you do is send a letter (in French) to the office in Nantes.

If you need the record from your "home country" I guess you have to go through an agency like the one Minesthechevy found.
