Question holiday accomodations

I am planning a trip with my daughter to Paris next spring, approx. end of March, beginning of April. I'm tired of searching online for affordable accomodation. We don't want to stay in hostels or too far away from the centre of things.Agencies online make me nervous, does anyone know of affordable hotels that are nice , not dumpy? Also, if a room is advertised as 100E a night, is that 100E per person or total ?If anyone can help...

Welcome to ExpatForum Pati. The price is almost always for the room in France, not per person.

What do you mean by affordable, what sort of rate are you hoping to pay?

Well,we're hoping under 80E because we'll be there about 10 nights.I've looked online at studio apartment rentals but after you pay their fee(30%) and the damage deposit, which goes to the owner of the apartment, who is a stranger you have to rely on to return it to you on your last day, its like putting up 3X the original price just for 10 days! So I'd rather go with a hotel, at least you can research a hotel online & see reviews.

It looks like it may have changed hands in the last few years, but my all time favorite hotel in Paris is the Hotel Istria Saint Germain - and from their new website, I see they definitely fall in your price range.

The rooms are tiny, but nicely appointed, bright and cheery. The hotel is in a great location, and there is a métro station just a few steps from the front door.

It used to be owned by the nicest family - not sure if they still own it or not - and had a lovely little breakfast room in the basement. Since they no longer mention the breakfast room, I suspect it vanished in the renovation a couple years ago.
Cheers,
Bev
