Default Car Insurance on UK plates

Can anyone recommend an insurance company who will insure a UK plated car until we get around to french plates - hopefully within first few month of moving but I can see it might get left as one of the last things to do !?
Thanks

You'll be lucky.

I was given three weeks 'grace' by Groupama before they insisted the registrations were transferred.

You might try googling 'gary automobiles Lyon' he's an englishman who specialises in sales to ex-pats and in selling lhd cars in the UK - maybe he has a contact. Bewar though he gives nothing away for free.

Otherwise, there are a million brokers in teh UK who will give you 'pan-european cover' but it costs.

This is quite common. Try Bill Stoker (an English AXA agent) on 04 66 29 63 52.

Hi, I've got an old Spitfire on UK plates insured through AVIVA, they will give me up to three months grace to get it sorted. Bruce

Hi, Axa will insure a UK registered car, we have just done it and no special requirements were needed. The premiums were higher on ours than in the UK but when you take into consideration that you don't pay for road tax here, it works out more or less the same. I imagine different cars have different rates. We have a Volvo S80 Diesel Auto. The excess is high but the insurance is very comprehensive. Once you have insured the car, unlike England, anyone can drive it under that insurance. Hope this helps. Gina A.
