Default Any advice on movinf to Paris

Hi,

We are hoping to move to Paris, possible 2010. We want t be close to the centre, but think the suburbs may suite us more.

1. If rental charges are not a problem! Which suburb would you surggest

2. We are looking for a safe quite part, with some open spaces, some every day shops and a market, hopefully.

.As I would be working from home, our main priority is finding the right property in the right area.

Many Thanks

If rental charges are not a problem you could try, depending on how close you want to be to Paris,
- Auteuil, Neuilly or Passy ("chic" and close to Paris),
- Versailles, Saint-Germain or Sceau ("bourgeois", a bit more remote)
Maybe you do not know the following fact: in France downtown is supposed to be a better place than the suburbs (yet, there are exceptions).

I advise you not to come to central Paris
You'll be soon disappointed
Prices are very expensive and a quiet nightlife is not guaranteed
(the city is very noisy and crowdy all night long with all the problems linked to)
The best in terms of qualtiy/prices is Versailles
Ideally situated in a green countryside and a peaceful environment
you can walk durin the evening or night very quietly
(not as equal as Paris)

Versailles is only 20 mn by train direct from central Paris
Trains are working all the days (incl. sat & sundays) from 5:00 AM until 12:00 PM

You have 4 important stations and a complete network of busses
and taxis 24h/day
You have 3 huge very typical french market/week

Versailles is classy but not expensive for rental high class appartments
For instance my 2 beds flat of 80 M² costs only 1500 €/month !
(Paris is at least the double !!!)

As I would be working from home, our main priority is finding the right property in the right area.

Versailles is definitely the right palce to stay
You have fantastic natural parks where to walk with childrens, supermakets,
quiet and peaceful way of life guaranteed with classy neighbours ("Old France " you know-very distinguished and polite) - all that less than the price of dangerous suburb !

For the rest keep in mind that this city was the home of the Kings of France in the past : you have plenty of cultural events very lovely to attend all along the year !

I hope I'll help you as my best

If you need local direct contacts for rentals etc...
feel free to ring me over my mobile Ph.
