I moved here for a job, and for the 35 hour work week and insane amount of vacation time :-) Actually, I was just looking for a change from Seattle, and this opportunity came up. And a change it was!

Lucky you to live close to the opera. You are right next to the only store in Lyon that sells pop-tarts and mountain dew! Some of the "delicacies" I miss from the homeland.

I live in the 6th, in between Brotteaux and the parc tête d'or. It would be great to meet up with some fellow foreigners to trade notes and maybe hang out a bit.

I am SO SO happy to find this forum. I moved here 3 weeks ago for an exchange and am kind of dying without people to talk to....my French is limited (but I am working on it!) and everyone in my classes are a good 10-12 years younger than me....so, if there are any social events planned or anyone wants to meet up for a coffee/wine, I would love to hear from you!!

I have been living here with my boyfriend since august, he is from here, but we've been in the US for the last 3 years. Your second paragraph sounds so freakishly similar to my thoughts on arrival a few months ago, and I have settled a bit but I am not working yet, sooo I have nothing but leisure time.
