Hi,

We are hoping to move to France, possible next year. But, have not disided were-yet. We would like any advise on Paris, not in the centre, more in the suburbs.
1 If rental charges are not a problem!! Which suburb would you suggest.
2 We are looking for a safe quite part, with some open green spaces, some local every day shops and a market, hopefully.
3 Public transport for wheel chairs? Is there any taxi type people carriers for wheel chairs?
or
Is there any where between Boulogne/Calais and Paris, a nice town that also covers
the questions above, that you could recommend.

Any advise will be gratefully received.

Thanks
Barbara

If you're thinking of Paris, it pays to consider where in Paris you need or want to go. If you'll be working in Paris, you need to be based somewhere that is convenient to your daily commute.

I'm not aware of much in the way of wheelchair accessible public transit in the Paris area - however if you check the RATP website (RATP, transports à Paris et en Ile-de-France : bus, métro, tramway, RER - Page d'accueil ) they do offer a map of their facilities with wheelchair access (usually the RER or metro stations), and there is currently an announcement about 3 bus lines that are being made wheelchair accessible. (All on the French language part of the site - I wasn't able to find this info when I changed to the English page.)

Though, depending on the nature of your handicap, if you're on the national health care plan, transport to and from many/most medical appointments and treatments may be included as part of your coverage.
Cheers,
Bev
