Dream on.

Things are just as bad here, in their own way.

You could always chance your arm and just go. One way or another if you really want to you can make. There's plenty of online sites which advertise for food and board in exchange for labour ( farmhands and the like).

Re-read his small print - the lad has two on the hoof and one on the way.

'Chancing your arm' can, indeed, work, if you're footloose and relatively unencumbered, but not when times are tough and an extra mouth to feed is looming.

Moving to France probably won't do much for your being broke and bored with life. It can get pretty boring over here, too - and unless your French is pretty good, your chances at finding a job are nil. (Even with excellent French, job hunting in France is not for the faint-hearted.)
Cheers,
Bev
