Default Living expences in Vichy?

Hi.
I´m thinking about moving to Vichy and was wondering how much you would need every month for living expences(food, electricity etc..)
Anyone have an estimated amount for a suburban city?

Thanks :-)

Welcome to the forum!

It might help to have a bit more information to go on. Where would you be moving from? What would you be doing in Vichy? (i.e. working, retirement, studying, etc.) What sort of accommodation would you expect (flat, house, garden, etc.)?
Cheers,
Bev

Hi and thanks for answering.
I would be working and renting a 1-2 bedroom appartment.
I currently live in Norway but you can´t really compare since the price-level here is one of the highest in the world.
I guess I´m mainly wondering how much a normal person would spend on food without any luxuries.
Thanks again,
Chris

With over 30,000 towns in France, the odds of our having another forum member in any one specific town might be a little slim.

For apartment rentals, try checking the online site for a publication called "Particuliers à particuliers" - it's a want ad publication reserved for buying, selling and renting property. You need to know the departement number for the town you're interested in - but after that you'll get some idea of rents.

PaP is for landlords who want to rent directly, with no agency fees. Figure one to two months' rent for the agent if you use one.
Cheers,
Bev

Thanks for the answer. It was not specific to Vichy, just wondering how much you needed to get by in a normal french town once you have paid the rent.

Hello Chris

I lived in Vichy for some years ...
(together with my French girldfriend) ..

Rentals for 3 room apartments are about 500 - 600 Euros
Electricity is about 120 Euros @ month (including heating).
If you cook yourself - 10 to 15 Euros @ day should be sufficient .. for good food.

Now I live in Paris area - and it is 3 times more expensive ...

Kind regards

Walter

Default Vichy

Vichy is quite boring but somehow workers friendly if you love nature .

The town is dead during summer but lively during 10 weeks of summer thanks to a good number of spas and mineral water treatments institutions. Vichy is known the the curative virtues of its water.

Nearest big town is Clermont-Ferrand where you can feel university life and industrial background

Winter in Vichy can be deceptive : little snow, lots of fog, rains, cold and wet. Brrrrrr. Bars are friendly and this is where most life happen .
Quite a lot of expats in the surroundings (dead cheap houses) from all over the world.

good luck
