Default What to do NYE?

Hey there,
My girlfriend and I are trying to suss out what to do on our 1st NYE in Paris...seeing a few offers of party boat trips but at 80 Euros a pop seems a tad expensive. Anyone got any good ideas or had good experiences? We generally like a good dance (80s and 90s music please!) and a drink and a general good feeling about a place. We live very central so getting about is pretty easy...
Thanks in advance all!

Col

Unless it is pouring down rain (and even if it is) you'll find a crowd on the Champs Elysée most New Year's Eves. As with most crowd scenes, you have to be careful of pickpockets and petty thieves who work the crowd, but bring a bottle (or three) of champagne and a party attitude, and you may be pleasantly surprised by what Paris can offer in terms of a giant street party.

Thanks! We live on Ile Saint Louis so the backup plan was to wander along the river towards that direction...I think we are going to avoid eating out as it seems expensive but maybe a good recommended bar for a few early doors drinks? Maybe near St Michel?
