Hi again. Had to go back to check your earlier posts, but as long as you have some sort of EU passport, you can avoid the visa/carte de séjour hassles. (You mentioned before you held Greek nationality, too.) As an EU national, you're in pretty much the same boat as the rest of the French. Your girlfriend should have all the paperwork for the kids.

The US passport won't do you much good, other than as id (i.e. for cashing checks, etc.).

If your French is up to it, there's a very useful website for the Services Publics : SERVICE PUBLIC - Particuliers
Cheers,
Bev

Who said anything about free french classes? That's for the folks on the contract of integration - and for that you need a carte de séjour.

And yes, a US citizen with 3 kids in France needs a carte de séjour - and for that you need a visa. If you PACS with their mother, it's a big point in your favor for getting a carte de séjour, but it's not a guarantee.
Cheers,
Bev
