Default Disability benefit - help

Hi there everyone - do hope you can help in someway. Hoping to move to France as soon as we can but I have a 26 year old son on disability benefit for conditions he was born with and he does not work. We could not leave him but where would he stand with these benefits in France - would he be able to get any. Thanks.

I will try to dig out some details, but I am pretty sure that disability benefit is one that you can continue to receive when you are living in France.

These might point you in the right direction

Disability Living Allowance : Directgov - Disabled people

DWP - Services and benefits - Disabled people and carers - Visiting or living abroad

Hi!

First what is you own situation?

- will you be working?

- do you have a British state pension? Then you will be entitled to a French Health insurance.

Otherwise:

Inactive but covered by E106 – you must take out private health cover immediately upon expiry of E106 ( about 2 years ) until / unless you hold a valid form E121.

And that could cost some Ero 4000 per person.

If you have French Health coverage, your son would be covered ( free ) as ayant droit.

As regards his handicap, you would have to go through the french handicap recognition procedure - there is no correspandance.

Then see here:

Moteur de recherche service-public.fr : résultats de la recherche

Yours,

giantpanda

Otherwise, you would have to contract a private Health insurance
