It's not generally a great idea to leave your personal e-mail address on any open forum these days. Heavens knows the price you'll pay in spam!

Once you've posted 5 or so genuine posts, you'll get your private messaging privileges and can contact some of the thread participants that way. Until then, I see that a few folks have posted some suggestions for gathering points that you may want to check on.

Stick around, and jump in on threads as you find anything that interests you. You'll be part of the "in crowd" in no time!
Cheers,
Bev
Thank you Bev for the welcoming note! Good point re the email address, although I was planning to create a new one in case I had to, and discard it once I didn't need it any more. I assume a 'genuine post' doesn't equal replies?

You're up to 3 posts already... replies count, as long as they aren't "nonsense posts" like we sometimes get from folks looking to promote their commercial website. ("I see..." or "Very interesting" and nothing else.)
Cheers,
Bev

Unfortunately, meeting will have to wait for a while, I'm still in Stockholm preparing for my transition. Can I take you up on your offer in early autumn? I'm not part of a group, but wouldn't mind joining one in case you find more students. Thank you also, for offering help - I am sure I will be in need of some advice sooner or later. Have fun in Pamplona!
Cheers! Design

Oh great! Thanks for offering to team up with me, Salsa. I am not quite sure yet whether going to Hendaye 3-5 times/week will work out for me though, as I shall be staying in Biarritz. Hendaye is right by the Spanish border, and thus a bit of a drive, isn't it? But we'll see. I am in any case grateful for the offer! Would you be available for classes during day time or the evening?
Cheers, Design

Hi Design, California Girl, LivinglifemyWay, All

We are almost there! 8 weeks and counting-we will be in Biarritz mid Sept (takes a while to get there from Australia! with stopovers...!). Would love to keep organising meetings until some/all of us match up. We have organised an apt in Biarritz so most meetings hopefully around there!
Hopefully Seven (and others) will be a good surfing buddy for my husband-we are on Cote Des Basques beach.

Also have a question: what is the best way to set up a local bank account with a rented apartment? Will they accept our rental contract with address as proof of address? I have noted it is/can be a difficult feat. Any advice greatly appreciated and looking forward to meeting you all!

many thanks and see you soon!

Hi...good luck with the move...I know a very nice and helpful guy that works for a bank here. He set up my bank account and answered all my questions. He is not in the Biarritz branch but I am sure he could point you in the direction of a friend at a branch there or at the very least he could tell you what you need? I am sure he would be happy to help.
If you are interested drop me a private message. Hope we all get to meet someday!

Unfortunately I am a pathetic surfer despite living by the beach in Sydney, but my husband loves it and is trying to figure out which boards to bring. Looking forward to it and thanks again for the assistance on the accounts!

Trying to make the move smooth and any guidance is greatly appreciated!
