Default Moving to France - taking 2 cats.

When we make the decision to move over to France we would like to take our 2 cats with us. How do the French regard cats - do they like them or hate them? Or are they of a similar opinion as in England.

I have just got it into my head that maybe the cats may not be safe if they wander off into neighbour’s gardens. If that is the case then they would be re-homed here.

Any advice would be very grateful

Obviously it depends on where you are living and your neighbors in the area, but we've got two cats and have had no particular problems. We're out in a somewhat "countrified" part of the Paris region - with a big garden and field next door. Our street is also set back a ways from the main road, so the cats have plenty of room to wander and hunt without having to cross any busy streets.

Oh and our big garden and barn have become the local gathering place for all the neighborhood cats, too.

They're relatively strict here about keeping dogs confined to their own yards or on leashes, but it seems to be accepted that cats will wander freely. But it really does depend on your specific neighbors and how your neighborhood is laid out.
Cheers,
Bev
