Default Help with Building plans in France

Hi
CAN ANYONE HELP, have just bought a place in Northern France and now we have found out regulations have changed and need building permission for doing any renovation inside house, does anyone know anyone who could help guide us through the process, not doing anything drastic just replacing two windows and putting up a couple of hardwood walls in loft???
MANY THANKS
cAROL AND JOHN

For doing inside ? thats a silly rule in my opinion , but why not just do it ? i mean whos going to say it hasnt always been like it ?

I heard they have a similar thing in Spain as well , but i would just do it cant see what the harm is being honest ..

Easy to say when it isn't your property or money

And the reason is that when you come to sell your house the buyer will see from the plans that the changes have not been registered, and maybe drop out of the purchase. Then, when you go to the town hall to admit you have to add the improvements to your plans, they fine you a percentage of the work undertaken. Windows are a particularly touchy subject, and just doing it because it wont cause any harm is probably not a good option!

the building permission is kind of complicated to get here in France.
First of all you have to go to the town/city hall of where you live. They will tell you the process and all the papers they need to give you the licence.

Thats exactly it, when we come to sell the rooms will read differantly from the deeds, then coudl have all sorts of problems, so trying to get everything sorted and ofcourse we know we have to have reistered builders, plumbers and electricians, just wondered if anyone else was going through this who knows someone who speaks french to guide then through the form filling process, thanks

Well i find this incredible ! I have just brought a property in Spain and NO Where did it say anything about room colours ,room sizes , type of windows , if it has tiled bathroom or plain etc etc ..

So i for one would do what i like inside

reasons are
Unless they have previous Internal Pictures at Gestapo headquarters they wouldnt have a clue.
Unless a scaled internal wall section and type is held by the Gestapo record collation dept then again they wouldnt have a clue .

I rest my case your honour

Well you better make sure that what is existing in your villa is what is on the original plans, because if and when you come to sell it and the buyers solicitor asks the question, then they will want to know why there is a difference and you will end up paying the fines and costs.

Welcome to Spain BP ... assume you're going to flout the law then just like the people you knock immigrants in the UK for doing

And like i said i just did buy one , and at no time did the internals be of importance to anyone or even be discussed on deeds or anything .. And i doubt if anyone buying is going to say "Hey hang on there one tickety boo Mr Seller !! You have tiled the bathroom and changed the door from 1975 i aint buying it " Are they ?

All the same, I would ask you not to give incorrect advice to people on the forum, especially when it is advocating illegalities and possibly putting them in a difficult situation. You clearly have no regard for the laws as they stand if they dont suit you, and although that is a risk for you alone to take, it cannot be condoned by this forum.
Thanks for your cooperation
