Default English Telephone in France

We want to use our brand new BT telephone in France. Does anyone know if you can get a converter to go from English to French system. It would be a shame to just throw away a brand new double telephone set.

I'm no expert, but if your BT telephone comes with the "standard" phone jack (RJ12, I think it is), you should be able to just snap that into a standard French telephone jack (or better yet, get an ADSL filter jack to go with your Internet line). The ADSL filters are available at most hypermarkets these days.
Cheers,
Bev

Many thanks Bev, we will go down the ADSL route, when we sat and thought about it that will be easiest.

Hello, No it won't work in France (well you can ring out with it, but the phone won't actually 'ring' in.) You can buy a widget for about GBP15 from places like Freesat in France, suppliers and installers for BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Five - but really, phones are that cheap - you can buy wireless handsets in sets of 3 or 4 for Euro60 in supermarkets now, I'd just buy a new one.
