Hello,
I am an american living in France. Married to a french man. My mother wants to retire and come live with us in April. Is there any way she can get medical insurance in France? Is international insurance the only option she has? Thank you to all for your help!!

If your mother is dependent on you, you can include her on your French health insurance. I'm not sure of the precise requirements for showing dependence in a case like that, but I do know of one family (American woman married to a French man) where they did bring her mother over. They were providing housing and most resources for her mother (who was in her 90's and not quite all there). It turned out to be a bit too much for the family and for poor old Mom, so she went back to live in an assisted living place in the US.

If your mother has her own resources (adequate for securing a visa), she'll have to provide her own insurance. Take a look at the AARO site for the rate sheet for their health insurance here: AARO?s Health Care Program for Expatriate America You have to be a member to purchase insurance through them, but the plan is designed to meet the visa requirements and is said to be quite reasonable by those who have shopped around.
Cheers,
Bev
