I don't know what you mean by 'UK ciggies', but most are around 5 euros 70 per pack of 20.

thanks for that - cheaper than the UK then, which are currently around £7.20 a pack and about to go up again!!!!!

When I say "UK ciggies", I mean the "bog standard" JPS, B&H type things

I pay 6,30E for Dunhill KS on the mainland; 4,65E in Corsica.

B&H are about the same I think, Dunhill International a little bit dearer. French/European cigs are around the 5,70E mark.

Note: unlike the UK, the price of cigs is state-controlled, so you won't get any special offers or anything - you might get a cheap lighter per carton .... Where I get my cigs in Corsica, I buy 10 cartons at a time and usually get a whole load of lighters, notepads, pens, keyrings, fabric bags, & a tee-shirt or sarong or something as well. My savings pay for my trip - and more.

So yes, it's worth buying in France compared to the UK, although I understand that Belgium, Luxembourg and Spain are even cheaper.

Hils

PS it's thanks to Napoleon that France mainland can't apply French tax to tobacco products sold in Corsica

I frequently travel into Spain and go to fuel stations and supermarkets. I don't smoke but I've noticed that packs of cigarettes are cheaper than in France. Pack of 20 Camel was €4.35.

I'm now in France and WOW, so far everything seems sooooo expensive - petrol, ciggies, coca cola, cakes, bread, deodorant.......!!! More expensive than the UK and much expensive than Spain. Its a lovely country tho and seems a lot tidier than Spain - but just my first impressions

Default Andorra

Try going to Andorra if you can. We were there last week and it was about 2.50 per pack or 25 Euros a carton. That was the average for all brands, including Nat Sherman's, Marlboro's, etc. Booze is also really cheap. No tax!!

Safe trip and enjoy!!
