Default Experience when apply for Vitale card

Hello expats would like to hear from anyone about their experience about applying for the vital card.I was reading some post about it but cant quite seem to understand it all. I did my medical with OFII and got the OFII stamp in my pass-port. haven't started the French Class has yet, will be doing so in September. The woman that interview me say its very important to get my vitale card or medical card not quite sure which one she means. I am new to all this I don't really quite understand it all. Could say the same for my husband too he doesn't have much idea how things work until we experience it. My husband and I went down to the prefecture where she told us to go. but they dont deal with that at this prefecture its quite a small town we in at the moment. they give us a number to go to another prefecture. I was wondering has well is it possible for me to get a vitale card and security number if I am not working and haven't made any contribution to anything since moving here which is about 4 months ago. My husband told me it took him 4 years to get this vitale card.

If your husband is working and paying his cotisations, then you are covered as his dependent. He should put you on his card as dependent - and then you will be issued your own social security number and card.

I don't know the precise procedure, but your husband can ask his employer about adding you to his coverage.
Cheers,
Bev
