Question Any Advice Please

Hello all....I would be grateful for advice/opinion/information on places to live around Montpellier. I need to be close enough to the city so as to work but I do not want to live in a big city. I think I saw in another post that the area to the south of Montpellier is being developed in a big way so if anyone knows any of the villages/small towns to the north and west where small houses are not too expensive and not new housing developments please post...
I lived in the Var for several years and them moved to the Deux Sevres and came back to England last year but it has not really worked out as hoped. Am thinking that being near to a thriving cosmopolitan place like Montpellier would give better opportunities for work and meeting people than living in a beautiful but isolated village...?? Thank you in advance for any input.

Montpellier is lovely city and a city which has a bit of everything so shoudl satisfy what it is that you want. It has a new side of town with everything for kids (ice skating, climbing, soft play, cinema complex, bowling etc) and shopping (Odysseum) as well as the old centre (ecusson) with quaint shops, beautiful and historic scenary and bars and restaurants.

Living on the outskirts of Montpellier is indeed a good option as the property prices are reasonable and you get the best of both worlds. The beach is not far either and that is where most of the evening life goes in the months of July and August. Everywhere is served pretty well now by the new tramway system.

Look at Juvignac (new and modern small town on West) or Lattes (again modern and between city and beach) or if you prefer the old character of the South of France and it's villages look at Laverune, St Georges, St Jean Vedas. Castlenau is also popular and near the centre as well as Jacou, clapiers, les cres.

Hope that helps.

That is all helpful, thank you. Do you know Montarnaud? If so, what is your opinion of it? Any information on public transport in and out of Montpellier would also be great..
