Default Teaching Math in France

Greetings,

I have a BS in mathematics and philosophy from a US university as well as two years of experience as a math teaching assistant at the college level.

I'm curious if anyone knows if these credentials might make me viable or even competitive as a math teacher in an ESL environment at some school in France.

Thanks!

Best,
Alan

Hi,

To teach in the French public school system you need to pass a national exam which is only open to French and EU nationals. This means that you can only teach in private schools (international, American, British - these schools have instruction in English). I don't know myself what qualifications they require though, whether it be just a degree in your area and/or a teaching qualification.
