Default car registration

I am looking to buy a car from a military member in germany. How do i go about making the car "french legal"? Would i be able to drive the car into france before i get any french paperwork for it?

There is a huge thread on this subject "bringing your car to France" but in a nutshell you will need a 'Certificat de Conformite" supplied by the car manufacturer (or main dealer) in France. With that it's easy, without and there could be issues.

Yes you can drive on German registration temporarily as any tourist can.
