Default Questions about Livre de Famille

Hi, I know Bev will reply to this quick or if someone else.

I'm applying my Spouse Visa next week but I need to ask, How many pages of the Livre de Famille needs to be photocopied (the whole book) or just the page with our informations.

Secondly the Copy of my spouse Identity card, does it go in the main file (originals or the photocopy file)

How long does one put on the intended date of arrival in france question?

There is a question on my long stay visa form that asked 'do you intend to stay with your family in france? '' Which Family must I write (my family in singapore or the ones I am going to live with in France? ''

And The last question : on the names/ prenom, noms etc....

My visa form says

Name of family
Birth name of family or former name
and First Name

Am I suppose to write my husband's surname in one or just my names ?

Thank you, I know I have write a thread before on other stuff requiring visa issues, I am Singaporean and next week's my appointment at the consular.

Thank you Much again, this site respond's quicker .

Cheers,
Marilyn

I assume you're in Singapore applying through the consulate.

I would only copy the page with your marriage information. The rest of the booklet (the part that is all pre-printed) isn't particularly relevant.

They will want to see the original of your spouse's identity card, so they can verify that the copy they keep for their files is "exact."

For intended date of arrival, put a reasonable date - I'd make it at least a month out, but you may actually have your visa back within a couple of days. That's probably the date they'll use for the beginning date of the visa, so it should be a date when you would be able to make the trip. (Check the airline schedules before you go in and see where there are still seats available.)

For the question on staying with family, say that you'll be living with your husband in France.

Nom de famille in France is the last name (or family name) that you will be using - whether your husband's or your own. It's up to you.

Birth name refers to your "nom de jeune fille" or maiden name - if you aren't going to use your husband's name, you can just fill this in the same as the "Nom de famille"
Cheers,
Bev

Hello Bev,

Thank you for always a prompt reply, But on my list of documents to bring and tick , They only asked for a 'photocopy' of the identity card of my french spouse, not the identity carte itself, we have got the mairie of villefranque to certify this copy of the photocopied paper to prove it is original, My husband needs his carte Identity carte to use while he is in France. But I also have an Original Birth Certificate extraction of his and a photocopied one as well. Is the birth cetificate find too, together with the certified photocopy of the Identity card? My husband can't take on anymore holidays from his work in France, or else he would be here too while I am applying my visa.
The lists were not too clear with the livret de famille english and french translation on the consular of france in singapore website, on the french list, it's says to photocopy everything and on the english list, it said to photocopy the livret de famille.

Upon receiving the visa, how long do we have before we can leave to france? Just in case there is a time frame which I must have to go, Our consular told us never to buy a plane ticket unless a visa is issued. I understand different french consulars around the world, asked for different documents as well and different things. I wish it would all be straightforward though.

Thank you again Bev. I wish the consular would answer anyone who is calling , I was directed to 3 different departments today :/

FWIW, the French consulates (actually most consulates) aren't real good about replying to phone questions.

If you've got a certified copy of your husband's carte d'identité you should be ok. Take photocopies of everything you are asked to bring, even the photocopies. (You want to keep a copy for yourself of what you've turned over.)

Normally they will date the visa with the date you give them for your intended arrival date in France. But you can enter France any time after the date of the visa. (Your visa will be valid for one year, so delaying your departure just means you'll have to apply for your first carte de séjour that much sooner.)

Just remember that they can't refuse you a spouse visa - unless you've done something fraudulent or you refuse to learn French (well, that's what it says on the Service Public site anyhow). If you have somehow forgotten to bring a document or a photocopy, they pretty much have to let you bring whatever it is in later. Don't know how fast the turnaround time is in Singapore, but usually you will have your visa back in a couple of days to a couple of weeks, max, once all the paperwork is accepted.

If it were straightforward, it wouldn't be France. Get used to it - there's lots more bureaucracy and vague procedures coming....
Cheers,
Bev

Hello BEV,

I went to submit my applications today at the consular of France Singapore and was told to check my status in a couple of days and bring back my passport for them to keep for 3 days and when my spouse visa is approve. However when I asked the Visa Officer about how long will I be able to enter France since I already used up 90 days (89 to be exact) of my time preparing my marriage between end March to June 21st.
Visa officer told me She will have to check with the authorities because since its a Schnegen Zone, One must be absent from the Schnegen place for at least 90-180 days before re-entry (but this is the tourist visa) However I am not coming anymore on a tourist status the next time.
She did ask me About my intended date of arrival, I had put mid August and said that by July I'll receive my visa.
Though She will still check with Authorities if I need to wait 3-6 months before coming back.
If this is the case, it's quite sad as Husband and I havent used up our 'honeymoon trip' gifts from friends and family. We were hoping I come back fast and we can use this.
I wonder if you know anything about this re-entry thing about the schnegen area.

Thank you again and alot for your help ,

Marilyn Perrot

You don't have to wait any period of time if you enter France on your spouse visa this time. The '90 out of 180' rules only applies if you want to go back as a tourist with your 'free visa', but since this time you will have an actual visa it doesn't matter.

Oh ! That's good news than, I was abit worried there. All documents are handed over and hopefully not too long to wait . I do have a number to check my visa status on the website , I do not know what they are going to do from now till my visa is finalize.

My husband is however under a CDD contract for his work and they can only change his to CDI in december, Will it affect my visa status? Though he is not only my means of support there, his parents will contirbute too.

Thank You Sarah for your response.

Merci ,

Marilyn Perrot

You're welcome. Your spouse visa should be pretty much automatic, and even if your husband didn't have a job it wouldn't affect your application. You will have the right to work in France so there won't be any concern over how you will be supported, etc.
