You need proper medical insurance - NOT a tourist visa cover policy which covers you only 90 days each 180 day period. The other poster might have gotten lucky but for the initial application I am pretty sure they will check it thoroughly. I am on the same visa - long stay visiteur, I am 34 years old and dont work either, I have the AXA international PPP policy - which covers me worldwide excluding USA & Canada. I pay 135 euros a month premium with a zero deductible - this was the best policy I could find and BUPA was more than twice as expensive. This is a comprehensive policy which covers doctors visits, hospitalization and even outpatient charges. Go to the AXA International website and you can buy the policy there itself.
