Default Renting Property in the South of France.

My wife and I are retired and are considering the possibility of renting a one or two bedroom property (Townhouse/Apartment) in Languedoc/Roussillon or Provence, not too far from the coast, with the idea of possibly moving to France permanently after about a year.
Could someone please point me in the direction of a decent website, where we could research the rental market for normal residency as opposed to "Holiday Rentals" ?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Joe

I don't think you will find many "normal" listings unless you look at them in French. Any English websites are going to be geared towards tourists.

Hi Joe the only website in English that I have found is the expatica one google it and then look on the left for housing search ....then make sure you click on "to rent" and then the region you want ...I've been looking myself today and there seems to be quite alot.

Cheers Kate

Hi Joe,

You could also check our creme-de-languedoc they list a number of agents and if you then contact those in the area you are interested in, I am sure some will be able to help you with longer term rentals. It is true that most of the rental listings on this site are for holiday rentals, but I am sure that if you contacted them, they might be able to help you...

Good luck - and great move to rent first

Regards
Alex

Default renting in france

Hi joe, are you still looking for a house? You know we have a house in south of france and sometimes we rent it exactly for the purpose you described. Our house is advertised in holliday letting and holiday rentals- sometimes you just need to ask the owners, they maybe interested. I know that we are.
Good luck!
