Default Need help finding a German-Speaking Shrink in Lyon

Hey All:

I need help finding a German-speaking shrink (preferably female) in Lyon who specializes in Sexual-Assault & Rape/PTSD/Rape Trauma Syndrome. I speak no French, else I'd look this up myself.

Thanks in advance!

Medical personnel with foreign language skills are not real common. And I think you'll find in France that specialties (like psychology or psychiatry) don't really further specialize to the degree they do elsewhere.

I made a quick scan of the Pages Jaunes for Lyon and there are 176 listings for psychiatre. A few of them have distinctly German sounding names, but you'd have to contact them to see if they actually speak the language. PagesJaunes : Annuaire des professionnels et bonnes adresses and insert "psychiatre" where it asks for "Quoi" and "Lyon" for "Où" and you should get the same list I found.

The usual way to get a reference like this would be for the person to contact their medecin referrant and get them to make a referral. You can also contact CPAM (now called Améli) to get their list of doctors in the area.
Cheers,
Bev

I don't know who the intended service is for, but if its for you, I'm sorry to hear you went though this experience. You seem to have a very good command of English so perhaps you'll find someone on this site. If the service is for another, it's been my experience after living 20 years in Germany that many Germans are able to understand English, at least at an intermediate level. Best wishes for you.

Thankfully it isn't for me, rather for my girlfriend, a German girl who is studying abroad in Lyon and was beaten & raped by her ex boyfriend. She is now experiencing RTS and in just trying to provide someone in the city who speaks her own language. She speaks better English than I so that would work as well.

She refuses therapy but just in case she changes her mind I just want to give her every possible option.

Thanks again.

I'm several hours south of her and I'm not a therapist but if she just needs to speak with someone in her language, my German is very good and she can call me. Let me know and I'll provide my number on a personal mail.

Hey

Thanks for the offer. She has good girlfriends in Lyon who are German. She refuses to talk to them, or her girlfriends back home she has known since she was a Grundschulerin. I'm hoping that over a period of time shell swallow her pride and go to a shrink.

Again, thanks so much for the offer. It is greatly appreciated.

A friend of mine is German, a psychiatrist and works in Montpellier but she specializes in pediatric disorders. She may have some contacts in Lyon. If the situation doesn't improve, post again and I'll contact my friend.

If you would contact your friend and see if she has any contacts that would be great!

I just want to be able to give her a name and a phone number for her to contact if she so desires.

Will do. She has a very busy schedule and isn't always easy to reach so it may take a day or 2. I'll send you a PM.
