Default self-employment tax

Hi,
I currently live in France in the Alps and this winter I'm working managing ski chalets. My boss wants me to become self-employed because she believes this will mean I will be able to make the most money for myself this way. I'm a bit reluctant to do this because I have no idea what it involves and don't know if it would be worth it.
My internet research has been fruitless and my boss hasn't been very forthcoming with details.
Please help!

It sounds to me like your boss is trying to rid herself of the employer's share of your cotisations (roughly twice as much as what you have withheld from your pay). If you become "self-employed" you get to pay both sides of the cotisations. No idea why she thinks this will result in your making more - unless she's offering to pay you enough more to cover the added cost.
Cheers,
Bev

Hi!

You would have to register as " travailleur indépendant " or the coming new system of " autoentrepreneur " ( most are expecting too much from this ).

Auto-entrepreneur mode d'emploi : la création d'entreprise individuelle simplifiée

Définition d’une micro-entreprise

You can see the taxes you have to pay.

The trouble is with these systems, is that the social costs are very high ( in % ) if you have a small turnover.

Your boss wants to save the " Cotisations patronales " - see here, where you can get a rough estimated what is paid on your salary:

Simulation paie - calcul paie, gestion de paie - fiche paie - externalisation paie : bulletin de paye expliqué

If you can avoid it ( as already written ) try to avoid this.

Yours,

giantpanda
