Hi, I'm 29, english, just moved to Lyon with my french boyfriend (though he's actually in England for two months - long story!). I've just started at the Alliance Francaise. I'm here in the mornings 9-12 A1 course. Deffo up for meeting up with you if you're interested! Let me know. Sarah

Default Carte Sejour

Hi...does anyone know the exact address and telephone number of the prefecture or la mairie to obtain the carte sejour? Do you actually apply at the prefecture or la mairie? And is it in the city centre or nearby? thanks

Click on the link on message 19 in this thread. It's all there - and you do have to apply at the préfecture.
Cheers,
Bev

Default Carte Sejour

Bev,
You have been extremely helpful with your posts...I am just a bit lost with this prefecture website in Lyon...it's likely attributable to the fact that i am not so good at french at this point but i see lots of addresses to the prefecture and i would just like to know which address you think i should go to in order to obtain my carte sejour...sorry for asking...just a little confused at this point...thanks

Unless you're a student or asking for asylum, this is the address you want:

* cartes de séjour temporaire, cartes de résidents, regroupement familial, naturalisation :

14 bis quai général Sarrail LYON 6ème

Cheers,
Bev

Hello - We have just been through this step in Lyon, and the address on quai General Sarrail is the correct one. Show up EARLY to avoid super long lines.

Once you have your carte de sejour, you can exchange your driver's licence for a French one. In LYON, this done by apt only. You fill out an application form, mail it in and they set an apt for you.

Siara
