Anyway, I've been busy recovering from this recession, and as part of that, I have started a blog about very long term investment - all of my life, in fact.

It's called "How Much Is Enough". I hope it is of use to some expat members.

Seeking adventurous and well traveled people to form a community in the Guadalajara, Mexico area

I'm interested in progressive minded people to form a neighborhood cooperative with a close knit social system, saving money by pooling resources and live a better life than what's available in the U.S. Like me, you've traveled extensively and consider yourself a citizen of the world rather than just an American and disenchanted with American society. And you are definitely more adventurous than most if you're considering moving to a foreign country.

I've traveled around the world and had a desire to emigrate for the past 5 years. I've decided 2010 is the time to follow my dream to emigrate!

I am interested in forming a community of rental housing (rather than buying) as many people (especially now) are not in a financial situation to buy property and you can rent in Mexico as cheaply as buying. The community would consist of 3 to 6 households in a regular middle class Guadalajara neighborhood. The environment would be designed for ages 50 plus and ideal for those with little or no social support system like myself and pet oriented. Mexico offer better options for health care compared to the expensive American health system especially now during the difficult economic times.

Hi All

Did you see Question Time last night below are my Views.

What the population of this country seem to forget is we can make change. We can keep the Bnp out. How if everybody of voting age voted then the few votes that the Bnp and other small parties would get would be to low as to cause any trouble.

Make it law that everybody votes in local and national elections and the situation should change!

Australia have the right idea. This is our county you obey our system if you do not like it then get out somewhere else.

Are there any ex pats in Ecuador who could fill in what it's like at ground level to live in, say, Cotacachi? I thought of that because I think it isn't muggy and we're currently renting in Florida!

We'd like somewhere with more of a European feel than Costa Rica, not to mention less expensive. A self contained town with some style to it, where you can walk around and see different views rather than the rather samey views you get in a Costa Rican town.

Anybody out there in Ecuador absolutely loving living there?? I'd like to volunteer somehow too, maybe teach English or something like that. I also intend to do some pen and ink artwork of local scenes. Clean air, good views, fresh farm produce -- good water -- can Ecuador provide?

Thanks for anything -- maybe Panama would be better?
