Hi i'm interested to know about the levels of crime in Portugal?
I was in 2minds about whether to move to Portugal or Spain, have decided on Portugal but still don't know where in Portugal will have to look around first:).

Just wanna know about Crime in Portugal, how likely is it to get:

Burgled
Mugged
Beaten
Stabbed
Shot
Raped
Killed

I know it sounds extreme but here in London all of the above is very common, 'Broken Britain' as they call it is on the increase and I hate even leaving my son at Nursery anymore where I cant keep an eye on him.
I long to leave but can't yet financially, I feel it'd be safer to migrate once I can afford to buy a house of my own there as renting without a job will be a gamble to if i'll find one in time to continue paying my rent, and with a child its even more of a risk. Good thing in a way because it gives me lot's of time to find out more, and levels of crime is an important factor as I don't want to go from one crime ridden city to another.

I'm interested in every part of Portugal Especially Lisbon and the surrounding areas, Central Portugal and all along the Silver Coast, if anyone personally has had any experience of the above and where and how-common occurances are to your knowledge.

Also be interesting to hear of the exact opposite, if you've never experienced any of the above i'd be interested to know where and how long you've lived there for!

I know crime is everywhere, it's the frequency of it that i'm interested in.
Thanks.

Hi,

This is my first post though I have been reading through a lot of the posts.
Very informative and kudos to contributors and moderators.
Coming to my question.

Just got the information last week that CO has been allocated and PCC and medicals are requested. My wife is 8 weeks pregnant now and obviously X-Rays are ruled out. I am doing the migration through an agent and I asked them for advice.
I had done some research on my own and also went through some of the threads here. My impression was that we would be presenting some documentation regarding my wife being pregnant from our gynecologist and the processing would be suspended until the baby is born.

The recommendation from our agent was that we produce the document from the gynecologist, I do the medicals and both my wife and me do our PCCs.

What happens after submission of the above documents? The CO accepts the documents from our side and the processing goes into a suspended state until the delivery and continues after the medicals are submitted for my wife, or the processing continues right now with just my medicals and the PCCs from my wife and I?

I have asked my agent these questions as well but was wondering what you guys think as well..

My timelines...
Application received by ACS on 15-10-2008
Approval on 15-01-2009
IELTS taken on 20-02-2009.
Application lodged with DIAC on 09-06-2009
CO requested for medicals and PCC on 11-11-2009
My skill is on MODL. Since I am an IT professional its automatically on CSL as well.
I am from India but working in Germany since the last 3 years.

Thanks in advance...

I'd just like to say Hi to the forum. I've been coming to Italy for almost 10 yrs and in July this year, i finally moved to Italy and now reside just outside Bologna in a little town called San Giovanni in Persiceto, with my beautiful Italian fiancee Lorena. We have our own company working as artists. Of course I miss the UK but at least its only a couple of hours away by plane :)
Anyway, are there any other local English speaking members in this area?

Ciao

Hi All

As per DIAC there is a 2 years waiting period for newly arrived migrants (skilled migrant) to be eligible for social security payments.

I wanted to know one thing from the forum members. If a permanent resident arrives in Aus and registers for CRN (Centrelink Reference Number) and then get outside Aus for 6 months and then come back to reside permanently in Aus will he be eligible for social security payments after 2 years from his first date of entry or will it be 2.5 years from his first date of entry considering the 6 months he spent outside.

Thanks for letting me know.

Best Regards

Hello Gurus,

I need your guidance, i have mentioned my mother's name in "non-migrant dependent" category in my online application, now CO is asking confirmation, if it is correct then he need PCC and MEDS for non-migrating dependent, if not then he is asking Form 1023 (notification of incorrect answers) to fill and send.
Since my mother is not dependent on me as she is a pensioner, so i will change it to "Other family members category"

if you can pls have a look at it http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/1023.pdf

need to know:
@ Sl.# 11 Details of other applicants:
do i need to fill up my wife details again?
do i need to fill up my children (3) details again? if yes, then the space is insufficient, how can i attach additional details?

your valuable inputs are appreciated....
kindly

Hi,

As you are all doubt aware I am coming to live in Egypt next year:clap2:

Whilst I am trying my hardest to limit what myself and my daughter can bring and we will of course be turning up at Heathrow with a large number of suitcases there are a few things that I would like with me out there I was wondering If I post them over to my husband would there be any extra cost involved other than the postage.

Things I would like to send are clothes, shoes and of course for those that read my threads some of my bags. We are not talking a big box and the contents would all be used and of no real value.

I just posted a envelope to him and he received it after 2 weeks. there is no time scale for my box to arrive just would it and would they then charge another huge amount for him to get it

Is posting the way or would DHL or someone like them better???

any advise would be appreciated.

Hi,

We're moving to Queensland Easter 2010.
I'm applying for a Spouse Visa (subclass 309/100).

How long after I get my Visa can I apply for Citizenship?

We have 3 girls, have been waiting for them to grow a bit more to apply to adopt a little guy, then decided to move to Oz and we're only applying after we move and are settled, but some countries (we're thinking about intercountry adoption) require both parents to be Aussie, which I'm not, althought hubby does meet the requirement.

If someone knows anything about timescales for citizenship, I'd be thankful, just wanted to have an idea of the timescales we're looking at.
I'm a bit worried we'll age out before we can apply to become adoptive parents..:(

Thoughts on citizenship timings anyone???:D

Thanks,
