If I have pressed the right buttons, you should see a photo I took near Surat Thani last week when I visited with the love of my life, also known by Horace Rumpole’s endearing term “She who must be obeyed”… and what a lovely old duck she is too.

I hope such a mundane photo does not trivialise this thread, containing as it does such fantastic pics. The point of the photo is simply this: how could Mr Suzuki and his minions come up with such a dreadful name for a mordta-sai as the “Smash”? It’s so bad it’s laughable. Actually, the large number of hilarious names and signs around the place probably warrant a new thread, although there is a distinct possibility that their well-meaning originators may be offended, perhaps mortally wounded, by the farang sense of fun. (If they ever found out.)

Froggie old chap, have you considered a separate website for your photos available for people and firms to publicise Thailand, but not for direct commercial gain or sale? I don’t know how you would make a quid out of it, but as it stands now anyone up to no good could steal your wonderful images without even an acknowledgement.

Hilarious. Daft names, good idea for a thread. You won't see me getting on that bike, that's asking for trouble...

(If anyone steals my pics, that's life - they'll only have the web quality ones, not the high res originals... and they are on a website where there are conditions for use, so I suppose I could get awkward if I came across one somewhere).

That's great news Froggie, your pics are far too good to waste. I should have known you would have a professional approach to your photography: it shows. I can't tell you how impressed I am and I am certain everyone agrees. Thank you for sharing them on this site.

Thank you also for working your magic on the Suzuki Smash pic and making it bigger. I suspect I did something wrong when trying to upload it, chai mai?

Now Silk, don't sulk! I DID say you had nice and well fed Soi dogs. And you admitted to having two girls every morning for breakfast so I'm not going to be too sympathetic. "A sin is not a sin until a sin is seen"

I'm not sure but the link you inserted when you click on "Insert Image" was the one to the little thumbnail, not to the main photo...

I didn't take this photo ... but it was an impressive sight and sound - 11,250 monks gathered at dawn in Chiang Mai.

And amongst them, these young novitiates... complete with name and temple tags in case they were mislaid! (My pic)

frogblogger,

That is an impressive photo of the monks. That said, I think I'd give a wide berth to the monk that's front right. That tattoo and his demeanor aren't usual for Thais. Unless he's not feeling well that looks like an ominous scowl to me - not the patient, placid, contented look one normally associates with Thail Buddhist monks. In any case, I like your photo better.

Serendipity2

I'd hate to have him as my landlord. Or meet him in a dark alley!
